Airtel Fair Usage Policy only applicable on OLDER customers?
by admin (14,363 views)
The latest twist in the tale is that Airtel in some areas is applying the Fair Usage Policy clause on only old customers.
Here is an email from the Airtel customer support to a customer who inquired about the policy applicability:
With regards to you below mail, this is to inform you that the query for
Airtel Fair Usage Policy has been mentioned below :It is applicable to existing customers for more than 06 months and it is
not applicable for new existing customers who is less than 06 months.
So, basically it means that FUP would not be applied to new customers for a period of 6 months. After that it is applicable?
Airtel continues to come out with super flawed reasoning for the implementation of Fair Usage Policy on its customer base.
New customers are spared for a period of 6 months? Why is it that being an old customer becomes a burden for the company? Why are they not coming out with enough clarification on what is going on in their mind? Why are they continuously changing the policy implementation in the various cities?
A lot of questions need to be answered.

i think airtel got konfused with net and dth , trai said dth operators shouldnt change plans or tariff for new dth customers for 6 months . airtel skrewed up and applied this to net users . the komedy kontinues
You mean they have no legal opinion or ??
It must be bunch of stupid customer care sending replies.
Believe me most of the times I was informing customer care what the policies were..
Any customers for Tata Indicom?
Would like to know queries from our side and the responses given by them to us.
Good old Airtel makes its customers to switch to other networks after 6 months with it’s foolish move.

I have broad band DSL (unlimited) connection for more than 6 months..from Chennai,Tamil Nadu.
Is it that this rule as relaxed for Karnataksa applicable to subscribers in Chennai City..?

I am manager at airtel and we have this policy for old users because we know that they can not leave us as they are dependent on us.
@Panej, Yeah, Just the way you talk tells us whether you are a manager or not!!! Dont try to fake things. Come up with some valid reasons atleast.
^ Thats the most retarded thing i have heard ? what are you a chaprasi there or a peon ?
This is India, you kick a service and you can get a new one easily. Companies out here prostitute themselves so none of the customers are dependent
What is wrong with u, ru representing ur company,
I was an airtel broadband customer, i used ur worthless service for 6 months and u ppl pull a stupid move of introducing “Fair usage policy”. I immediately changed to BSNL broadband – the most reliable one. Atleast they dont treat their customers as dogs. FCUk Airtel- Thats what i tell every potential customers
Thank God, Atleast Airtel removed this stupid policy for 256 Kbps users. That’s a relief.
people are dumb ,because they are useing such service ,many other company are redy for new customer ….give unlimted download …
The fair usage policy is like tying us up in chains, are we going back to pre-independence era? I'm afraid so… Today, in India, we are still to achieve freedom from the internet service provider's corrupt ways, not unlike when we were under the British. Friends, fellows and countrymen, I ask you to rise and DISCONNECT YOUR AIRTEL BROADBAND TODAY! FUP is a violation of consumer rights and I will personally file a RTI enquiry as to under which law this has been implemented. If no valid reason is stated, I think all of us should go to the consumer court!
this is just preposterous :|
u suck airtel
